Long way or shortcut?

Hi,

The other day, my girlfriend and I were looking at a Facebook memory where, on a walk through Brasov, we had the choice between a longer road and a shortcut, a very steep and apparently faster way.

We chose the short and steep path. We climbed, we grabbed our hands on the vegetation around us, we slipped, we walked on all fours. Eventually we made it, but I kind of regretted not taking the long way.

And to top it all, I arrived at almost the same time as the others who chose the long way.

My girlfriend asked me: What makes us make decisions when we have a choice?

In this case, although we regretted it, we made it, but we might as well not have made it and had to turn around and start the long way back.

In life, very little can be accomplished by cutting corners. As a good friend of mine, who likes more plastic parables, says, if I have to do 10 push-ups to reach a certain muscle mass, I can’t do only 2 and hope for the same result.

Most of the time the road is long and hard, but what leads us to the end, to success, is our tenacity, our determination to stay on that road no matter what obstacles we face.

Don’t look for shortcuts!

Stay on your way!

Be tenacious!

Water at the roots

I recently watched part of an interview with Rareș Prisecariu, a brilliant 10-year-old child with an extraordinary maturity in both his thinking and the way he speaks. At one point, he said a sentence that made me stop everything I was doing: “My mother is the water at my roots.” How beautiful and expressive. My […]

We wear masks

Have you noticed we tell stories all the time? Our brain is a drama-obsessed screenwriter. It writes scripts, screenplays, daily mini-series in which we are the hero, the victim, the moralist and the savior. They say, “If you could see yourself through other people’s eyes…” Or, “If you could see yourself as I see you, […]

Why do we love traveling?

A few days ago, my girlfriend asked me a question that really got me thinking: Why do most people have such an attraction to traveling? What do we actually get out of it? An interesting question, one I hadn’t thought of before from this angle. I took for granted that we all like to travel. […]
