Hi,
On Thursday, February 29, I attended an event dedicated to burnout. A room full of young people very engaged with the theme of the event and with lots of relevant questions.
One of the questions was (I paraphrase):
– How do I know if I’m procrastinating or procrastinating, or being a jerk or lazy?
My answer was that we need to look at the reasons for procrastination, for procrastination. Most of the time the reasons are very simple and easy to identify.
When you don’t like what you’re being asked to do, you’ll no doubt find a hundred reasons why you’d do the activity later, just, it’ll just pass.
Or you’ve built up that image that you won’t be able todo the work satisfactorily. You’re not enough! You are not good!
Or maybe you don’t know how to perform the activity and you’re way out of your comfort and safety zone.
Or, more recently, you’re over-stimulated and in the course of an activity that you either don’t like, are afraid of the consequences of, or don’t know how to do, you find refuge in those little social media dopamine infusions that will keep you constantly distracted.
I’m telling you directly and bluntly that it’s all in your head.
You are good and you are enough. You just have to believe in yourself.
I really like that picture of the kitten looking in the mirror and seeing a lion. Most of the time, however, the image is reversed. We are lions inside ourselves, but for some reason we see ourselves as kittens.
Be honest with yourself and have confidence in your own strengths and you will not see the need to postpone what you have to do, even if it is difficult, even if you don’t know at the moment how to solve it, even if you are afraid of the outcome, or any other reason.
Don’t put off doing what’s important!
Claudiu
