Rewrite your story!

It’s more than 15 years since I wrote my first book. Since then, I’ve published three more books in various literary genres and worked on two feature-length movie scripts. Now I’m concentrating on finalizing my fifth book.

In all this time, I have invested countless hours documenting the art of writing. I’ve learned about how to create interesting characters, how to construct a compelling plot, and how to transform the hero through a strong narrative arc.

In this context, I asked myself an essential question:

Who is writing our story?

As an author, you have the freedom to shape the destinies of your characters, to set them on a clear path and give them the resources to face the challenges that come their way. But when it comes to our own lives, are we at the helm of our own story? Or do we let others write our destiny? Moreover, do we take on the role of the main hero or play a secondary role in our own existence?

These questions did not trouble me in my youth. Life seemed to flow naturally, like a ship on calm waters. But as time passed, I had “Aha!” moments that made me realize I wasn’t fully in charge of my own life. Although I had proud achievements, both in my career and in my personal life, I realized that I was too often letting fate steer my ship. And when that ship was buffeted by the storms of life, I realized that I needed to take control, take a firm grip on the helm, and sail with intention towards my desired destination.

In that moment, I became the hero of my own story.

A key principle that helped me to become the hero of my own life was the one described by Stephen Covey in his book“The 7 Habits of Effective People“: Start with the end in mind. This principle emphasizes the importance of having a clear vision of what you want to achieve in the long term.

But, more importantly, it’s not enough just to have a goal; you need to make sure that goal reflects a fulfilled life, a story you’ll be proud to tell.

As you look ahead, ask yourself: what is the destiny you really want? What do you want your life to look like when you look back? Do you write your story with the idea of a fulfilled life in mind or do you let circumstances and outside influences dictate your direction?

To become the hero of your own story, you have to take control. That means setting clear goals, carefully planning the steps needed to achieve them and standing firm in the face of challenges. Life, like a well-written novel, needs to have a coherent narrative thread, characters that evolve and obstacles that are overcome through courage and determination.

It’s easy to get lost in the daily routine and let others influence our decisions. But to live a truly fulfilled life, we need to be aware of our power to shape destiny. Every decision you make, every action you take, contributes to writing your story.

No matter where you are right now, you have the power to rewrite the story of your life. If you feel you’re not where you want to be, don’t be discouraged. Every hero has moments of hesitation and hardship, but what defines them is the ability to pick themselves up and fight on. Reflect on the path you are on, set yourself clear goals and start navigating resolutely towards them.

Rewrite Your Story!

You are the author of your life. Be the main hero in your story!

Start with the end in mind and rewrite your destiny so that, in the end, you can look back with pride and satisfaction. Have the courage to take the rudder in your hands and make your way towards a fulfilled life, one in which you write each chapter with passion and determination.

A day full of smiles and achievements!

Water at the roots

I recently watched part of an interview with Rareș Prisecariu, a brilliant 10-year-old child with an extraordinary maturity in both his thinking and the way he speaks. At one point, he said a sentence that made me stop everything I was doing: “My mother is the water at my roots.” How beautiful and expressive. My […]

We wear masks

Have you noticed we tell stories all the time? Our brain is a drama-obsessed screenwriter. It writes scripts, screenplays, daily mini-series in which we are the hero, the victim, the moralist and the savior. They say, “If you could see yourself through other people’s eyes…” Or, “If you could see yourself as I see you, […]

Why do we love traveling?

A few days ago, my girlfriend asked me a question that really got me thinking: Why do most people have such an attraction to traveling? What do we actually get out of it? An interesting question, one I hadn’t thought of before from this angle. I took for granted that we all like to travel. […]
